Lara Stone posing nude for Pirelli Calendar 2012

Beautiful Lara Stone photographed by Mario Sorrenti for Pirelli Calendar 2012

A selection of supermodels posed completely naked for the Pirelli Calendar this year. The dream cast includes but is not limited to Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Milla Jovovich. The nudes are presented tastefully in natural sets on Corsica. Photographer Mario Sorrenti did an excellent job.

When you log into the Pirelli website then you will find a 20 minute behind the scenes video. Watch how Mario Sorrenti is making the calendar photographs. Passionate but calm, with extremely simple gear and a relatively small entourage.

Sasha posing on an award winning photographWhen you look at a photo and say “Wow, that’s unbelievable!” then most probably you should do exactly that … not believe it!

Today one of my photos won the Standard Award of Daily Awards in the black and white category. This fact alone makes my day. I am narcissistic and kinda like winning awards. Even more, I like telling my models that their photos won an award.

What’s the better fill light? Speedlight or Reflector?

When you add some fill in light to your lighting setup, does this extra light do exactly what you want it to do to your scene?

A fellow photographer just asked me why I never use reflectors as fill light in my lighting setups. Actually, I do use reflectors. I have two big collapsible multi purpose reflectors always with me. I am using them as gobos, or as diffusers and yes, sometimes even use them for adding fill light.
