Absolutely the 50mm. You wanne be as close as possible to people because of smoke and you want the open aperture to see things in your viewfinder. via @toopietoopster
Neither. Buy a EX580 and a LONG ETTL cable (from eBay) instead. That truly enhances your possibilities. I mean the 50mm 1.4 and the G11 are both awesome. But they don't make your photos better. On the other and a good patch of light at the right spot can make the photo awesome. via @hopevee
Ideas for pinups? Let's first think which style we are after. Look at a lot of examples. Which ones do you like? What are the things they have in common? Describe it in one, two or max 3 attributes. For instance: "posh and seductive". Now you found the style you are after. From there on, brainstorm your ideas and select some. Ask yourself: Would those photos be truely [put your adjectives here]? If yes, go for it.

This is one of the photos that I made using my 10ftx10ft (3x3m) piece of white silk (details of this silk prop). What I love about the silk is the additonal sort of depth of field that it provides. Read more »

Hello World!

Never Fear – Michael is Here! Happy Halloween!

Hey fellow photographers,

I wish you an exciting, colorful and inspirational Halloween! Give out much more sweets than you usually would, treat the children nice – don’t eat them. Please shoot the one or the other pumpkin for me – with your 50mm Leica and not with your 8mm Magnum. And set your whitebalance to candle light, and your mood as well.
Have a good time and…

Good light!
-- Michael
