Equipment Checklist for Photo Shoot on Location

Before going to a shooting on location I find it quite useful to go through a comprehensive checklist of things and equipment that I need to take with me. The list reminds me of anything I might have forgotten. This is NOT because I am very forgetful. This is to keep my mind free for the creative challenge. Really good excuse, isn’t it? Here is my suggestion for a complete list:

Notes and Papers

  • Address of the location
  • Driving directions
  • Train- or Plaintickets
  • Phone number of the location
  • Phone numbers of models, stylists, other people
  • Contracts and releases
  • Passport
  • Scribbles or example photos
  • Businesscards

Photobag

  • Cameras
  • Lenses
  • Lens cleaning kit
  • Fully charged batteries (camera / flash)
  • Memory cards
  • Harddrive/Imagetank
  • Angle viewfinder
  • Flashes/strobes
  • Reflectors
  • Neutral gray card
  • Tripod
  • Remote Camera Trigger

Snacks

  • Water/Drinks
  • Fruit / Candy Bars

Miscellaneous

  • Portable player with Music
